GERMANY TRAVEL DIARY DAY 2

Germany Travel Diary – day 2

We went the same way as day 1, going a little further until Odeonplatz.
You can still spot the markings where once stood the symbols of Nazism that were removed. This is a very delicate subject for the germans, so if you ever visit Germany, I would recommend NOT mentioning this period. Even if it’s out of pure historical curiosity, better to stay quiet out of respect.
We watched a group singing in traditional outfits (a lot of old people wearing those traditional clothes with their red noses and a weissbier in hand, all happy and cute like not-so-little hobbits in the Shire!). It was a lovely scene.

After that, we headed to the Residenz for a little history time. I was quite impressed by the grotto there. I imagine how beautiful the winter garden on the top might have been in the past.

Chai latte pitstop time! We rested a bit at San Francisco Coffee Company in Odeonplatz, and crossed Hofgarten, heading to Engrishgarten for a little chill-in-nature time.

We spotted a group surfing in the river! For a carioca (that’s how people who are born in Rio de Janeiro are called) like me, that was quite inusitate!
I’m used to get out of my house there and be at the beach already! Seeing people surfing in a river is something I did not expect!

We went all the way back shopping in Virtual Market. I just love street Markets. And the blueberries are just so much cheaper than in the Philippines! Bought a box of them.
The old couples in traditional outfits were there too!
So cute they make me want to adopt a german grandpa.
